The streets along the Carnival parade route in San Fernando were mostly spotless on Ash Wednesday, but in a few nearby communities, household garbage had begun to accumulate. Cleanup crews rolled out at midnight—sweeping through Coffee Street, Cipero Street, High Street, the Rienzi Kirton Highway and Independence Avenue—working steadily through the night to restore San Fernando to order before sunrise.
