🐴 Struggling with your canter transitions or getting the wrong lead?💪🏻 Your leg position matters! The aid for the canter starts with your inside leg at the girth and your outside leg behind the girth.🐎 This isn’t just about cueing the canter—it’s how you tell your horse which lead to pick up. If your horse tosses their head going into the canter, you don’t fix it by pulling the head down- you fix it by getting the hind quarters under and the withers up! They are tossing the head to get their front feet off the ground. If they learn to use their thoracic sling muscles, then they don’t need to hollow. If you are currently only doing trot to canter transitions, try doing some walk/ back/ walk/ back , then collected walk, trot a few steps into canter. (Barely related video because we got
