Golgi tendon organs are sensory receptors located in tendons. They monitor muscle tension and protect muscles from excessive force by triggering relaxation when tension becomes too high. We can use this system to create relaxation in tense muscles through massage. We're taught to mostly massage muscle. You'll notice in many of my massages I'm working attachment points.
