High school wrestler Andrew Johnson is forced to cut locs by a racist referee or forfeit the match. His hair wasn't an issue in any of his other matches. He had a legal hair covering which is all that's required for locs. This referee (Alan Maloney) called a Black man the n-word in 2016. The man body slammed Maloney after the offense. Maloney later apologized for the incident and the body that oversees high school wrestling in New Jersey ordered him to complete a sensitivity training class. | I

After winning four state titles for Mount Carmel High School in Illinois, Joe Williams captured three NCAA titles for the University of Iowa. He won his first title in 1996 at 158 pounds, and repeated in 1997. His senior year, he moved up to win title number three at 167 pounds.
