Cardioversion simply puts AFib to sleep — temporarily. 🫀⚡️ It doesn’t eliminate the AFib cells, doesn’t stop new ones from forming as you age, and doesn’t prevent the cells it quieted from waking back up. It ends the episode, nothing more. There’s no real difference between AFib stopping on its own and us forcing it to stop with cardioversion. Sometimes we pair cardioversion with strong anti-arrhythmic medications to keep those cells asleep longer — but never forever. AFib strengthens with time
