As a mom to a tween with autism, I can now say I’ve been doing this for a while. I’ve settled in. The diagnosis no longer feels heavy on my tongue. I can advocate openly and usually without tears springing to my eyes. And I can admit that I often feel like I’m searching for something. Answers. Acceptance. Hope. A place to belong.
