It's been said that John Wayne and Patricia Neal did not get along on the set of OPERATION PACIFIC ('51), as Wayne believed Neal to be too young to play his wife and Neal disagreed with Wayne's politics. However, the pair reunited almost 14 years later on IN HARM'S WAY ('65), and Neal stated that the two got along better at that point because Wayne had mellowed out, presumably because of his lung cancer diagnosis.
