In honor of Filipino American History Month, I had to include a classic—lechon kawali, aka crispy pork belly. This version’s oven-cooked and simple to make, but it takes a little planning. The secret to that shatteringly crisp skin? Let the pork belly sit uncovered in the fridge for at least 24 hours to dry out. Trust the process. Recipe below: 1.5lbs Pork Belly (skin on boneless) poke holes Spice mix: 1Tbs brown sugar 2tsp salt 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2tsp five spice Leave in fridge uncovered m

Had to include my mom’s soy garlic chicken for Filipino American History Month 🇵🇭 It’s one of those recipes everyone loves—crispy, garlicky, and coated in a sweet-savory glaze. The best part? It’s so easy to make, which means more time with family. Double the glaze if you like extra sauce on your rice. Follow for more simple, flavor-packed recipes. Please see recipe below: For the chicken -4 boneless skin on chicken thighs lightly salted -1/4C cornstarch -2tbs neutral oil for pan-frying Sauce:

Lechon vibes without the whole-pig commitment — aka Bellychon. This Filipino porchetta is oven-roasted and stuffed with lemongrass, garlic, and plenty of black pepper. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfect for the holidays when you’re craving lechon but don’t want the fuss of a whole pig. Save this for your holiday table and share it with someone who loves lechon as much as you do. | Leah Cohen

Steamed chicken with ginger-scallion sauce is my go-to when I don’t really want to cook but still want something super flavorful and light. It comes together fast, uses ingredients I always have on hand, and totally hits the spot. Save this for your next “I’m tired but still hungry” night. 4 bone in skin on chicken thighs 3 in piece of ginger 2 Tbs minced the rest sliced 3 cloves garlic minced 1/3C scallion greens sliced thin bottom save the white bottoms for steaming the chicken 1/4C neutral fl

This is one of my go-to recipes when I’m tired but still want something comforting and flavorful. I threw together this stir-fried beef with ginger and scallions in under 30 minutes — fast, savory, and always a family favorite. Proof that weeknight cooking can be easy and still hit all the right notes. Recipe below — save this one for busy nights or share it with someone who needs a new weeknight staple. For the beef: -1lb flank sliced against the grain -1 Tbs Kikkoman soy sauce -1Tbs shaoxing -

Cooking up a Filipino classic today 🇵🇭 I’ve got a pot of tasty picadillo simmering with fish sauce, ground beef and tomatoes. This easy, budget-friendly meal has all the good stuff—potatoes for that perfect texture, raisins for a sweet kick, and peas for a pop of color! So, what’s your stance: team raisin or nah? Either way, this dish is sure to warm your ❤️ #picadillo #FilipinoFood 2 Tbs neutral oil 1lb ground beef 1/2C small diced carrots 1/2C small diced onions 4ea cloves garlic minced 3/4C

Sharing another one of my favorite 🇵🇭 dishes in honor of #fahm This one is called Kare Kare, a braised oxtail stew with peanut sauce. Oxtails are crazy $$$ so you can swap them out with a cheaper cut of beef just make sure to include some bones. I like to mix the bagoong (shrimp paste) into the sauce but traditionally it is served on the side. I just heard some terrible news from my Filipino vendor that the US is no longer allowing bagoong from the Philippines because of the shrimp they use. I

I tested out a ton of cinnamon roll recipes over the years and this one has become my absolute favorite. I cooked the rolls at 375 degrees F for 20 min. If you like yours rolls to be a little gooier cook them for 18min. This recipe is courtesy of @_cooklikeamother Paste * 1/3C milk * 1/2C hot tap water * 1/3C bread flour Rolls * prepared paste * 3 tsp instant yeast (2 packets) * 2/3C whole milk warmed to 100 degrees F * 1/2 Csugar * 3 tbsp butter melted * 1 egg * 1 tsp salt * 3 2/3 c bread flour

Using every bit of that holiday ham over here. I made a Cuban-style sandwich with our leftover tocino ham and even baked the bread from scratch — lard in the dough so it’s super soft and fluffy, just how I like it. Instead of straight mustard (Ben can’t handle it lol), I did a mustard-garlic aioli and it was honestly the perfect move. Then for breakfast, I threw the rest into a tocino garlic fried rice because leftovers should never go to waste. What are you making with your holiday ham? Save th

Ruthie and I finally checked out the new Filipino spot @tradicionalenyc from chef @choybee and it did not disappoint. The food hit, the vibes were right, and we instantly felt at home—especially running into a handful of old @piggybacknewyork staff. Highly recommend visiting this place. Definitely one of the best Filipino restaurants in the city. | Leah Cohen

Finding the time to make home cooked meals for the kids can be a struggle especially the days I am working at the restaurants. That’s where @wegmans gold pan meals come into play. These are the perfect meals when I’ looking for a nutritious meal for the family. The icing on the cake, there is virtually no clean up which allows me to spend more time with the kids before bedtime #ad #wegmanspartner | Leah Cohen
