A man was trying to protect himself against two intruders when he and one of the assailants was shot dead in a property on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria.

A woman who attended a home on the Mornington Peninsula in an attack police said was “targeted” is one of two people killed in a fatal shooting.

Homicide detectives are searching for an unknown man after a woman and man were shot during an apparent burglary gone wrong on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula. Police were called to the property on Parson Street address in Rye about 4am.
