On Nov. 27, 1924, the first Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade took place in New York. The first three years, it was known as the Macy's Christmas Parade.

Macy's is preparing for millions of in-person spectators at its annual Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC – despite the threat of a storm, bitter chill and whipping winds.

The show must go on and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will go on rain or shine, Macy’s tells NBC New York. The parade is scheduled for Thursday in New York City and unfortunately, the forecast looks rainy.
