Greenland's pro-business Demokraatit Party surged to victory in a shake-up that could boost U.S. President Donald Trump's attempts to tap the island's mineral wealth, with the victors keen for reforms favouring private enterprise and mining.

Demokraatit won over parties that have governed the territory for years and favors a moderate approach towards independence from Denmark.

In a historic shift, voters overwhelmingly supported two center-right, pro-independence parties in Tuesday's election, resulting in a major parliament overhaul.
