The Supreme Court will hear arguments today in a challenge to Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth, and for the first time in history a trans lawyer will be arguing before the Supreme Court. This set Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) off.

For Chase Strangio, the professional path that’s led to this moment – in which he’ll have 15 minutes to present an argument defending gender-affirming care for trans youth before the Supreme Court – cannot be unwoven from his life outside the courtroom.

At issue is a Tennessee law that bans access to hormones, puberty blockers, and other treatments for trans kids in the state.

Tennessee’s law bans puberty blockers and hormone treatments for transgender minors, but not “across the board,” lawyers for the families wrote in their Supreme Court brief.
