A recent inquiry from viewer Bob L. questioned the authenticity of an email from the Social Security Administration referencing tax relief under the new law.
Trump promised to eliminate the tax on Social Security benefits in his 2024 campaign, but the bill instead adds a new deduction.
The Social Security Administration said the bill ensures most Social Security beneficiaries will no longer pay federal income taxes on their benefits. Instead, the bill provides a temporary tax deduction some are calling a "senior bonus.
