For a brief spell, it looked like Alex Palou might actually be beatable on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. The pole-sitter lost the lead just after the green flag flew and spent most of the race running in the tire tracks of Graham Rahal.

Alex Palou held pole position, but Graham Rahal had a tire advantage and capitalized on it, passing Palou on the second turn of the race. Rahal got a slight lead on the outside and retained it as Palou, unsuccessfully, tried to beat him on the inside line.
