The Lions did not promote from within to replace offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, but they did choose someone with ties to the team's offensive scheme.

John Morton and Jared Goff worked together for a season in 2022. Now, the two will reunite as the Lions look to replace Ben Johnson.

Following a strong performance last weekend at the NFL’s Pro Bowl Games, Jared Goff and his wife, Christen, took the red carpet Thursday night at this season’s NFL Honors and immediately drew attention.

The Lions acquired Goff in a blockbuster deal with the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Goff was initially expected to be a two-year stopgap for Detroit, but he turned into so much more. Johnson and the Lions staff helped him reach his ceiling as the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
