The New York Yankees are changing their long-standing no-beard rule and will let players and coaches have "well-groomed" facial hair from now on.

For half a century, players on the New York Yankees were not allowed to have beards. Now, the team is lifting the decades-old facial hair policy and allowing for “well-groomed” beards.

The ban, which was instituted 49 years ago by former owner George Steinbrenner, was dropped in a move aimed to improve player recruitment.
