A 50-year-old man remains in jail in Horry County accused of violating a state and local ban on open burning during the Carolina Forest area wildfire. Jason Daniel Bingham was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with burning trash or other debris during an emergency ban,

The largest of the brush fires erupted Saturday in Carolina Forest, a community west of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The fire exploded in size overnight, forcing residents in at least half a dozen neighborhoods in the area to flee their homes early Sunday.
