According to the National Weather Service, a tornado warning for Nicholas County has expired on Thursday, April 3.
Dozens of tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings were issued Wednesday in parts of Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Mississippi as storms hit those and other states in the evening. Numerous possible twisters were reported in the South overnight, particularly in Tennessee and Kentucky.
At least four people have died after tornadoes and violent winds ripped through the US South, as a series of storms that are expected to continue for days takes hold. The deaths were recorded in Western Tennessee and Missouri on Wednesday and early Thursday, in areas where homes were flattened and debris flew miles-high.
Despite the heightened concern, mother nature largely spared the state, at least for now.
The West Virginia Statewide Tornado Drill is scheduled for 11 a.m. on March 25, 2025. During the drill, the Emergency Alert System will broadcast on local television and radio stations, including WBOY, and some emergency sirens will go off.
