WINNIPEG, March 7, 2025 – The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club announced today they have acquired Brandon Tanev from the Seattle Kraken in exchange for the Jets second-round selection in the 2027 NHL Draft.

The Seattle Kraken have traded forward Brandon Tanev to the Winnipeg Jets in exchange for a 2027 second-round pick in their second deal completed ahead of Friday’s trade deadline.

The Kraken have traded fan favorite Brandon Tanev to the Winnipeg Jets. The forward is nicknamed ‘Turbo’ because of his high energy and physical approach to hockey. Tanev was held out of Thursday’s game against the Nashville Predators, indicating a move was likely. In 238 games with the team, Tanev scored 41 goals and notched 32 assists.

Brandon Montour gave the Kraken the win vs. the Canadiens in overtime in an NHL-record four seconds. "You have to tip your cap if someone can beat that one," he said.

Fans barely found time to settle into their seats as Brandon Montour blew by the puck drop and beat goalie Jakub Dobes with the fastest overtime goal in NHL history, capping a comeback win over the Montreal Canadiens.
