UVA’s birthday bash began Monday with an open house at Carr’s Hill, complete with a Rotunda-shaped cake created by the cake wizards at The Sweet Stop in Richmond and performances from UVA a cappella groups the Sil’Hooettes and the Hullabahoos.

One person is in custody and another is in critical condition after a stabbing near the University of Virginia's Alumni Hall Thursday, according to Nexstar's WRIC.
