After severe storms and strong winds hit Central Texas, causing widespread power outages, several schools announced they would be closed for the day due to loss of power. This included Marlin ISD, who's now on their 9th day of canceling school.

Some of those wind gusts knocked out power in areas of the city, according to an Austin Energy spokesperson. Two notable outages – one near Clayton Lane and U.S. 290 and another near Hollybluff Street and Bluff Bend Drive – were confirmed by officials to be wind-related.

Around 85 Austin Energy customers remained without power just after 9:20 a.m. Wednesday. The outages, which at their peak Tuesday affected 31,000 customers, were caused by high winds ripping through the city.
