Heavy rain continues to pour down on Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, but much of the tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings have passed.

The National Weather Service has issued tornado warnings for parts of Ohio as a storm system moving across most of the Midwest makes its way toward Columbus. The tornado warnings were focused on the southwestern part of the state.

A tornado watch was in effect for much of Illinois, including the Chicago area, and Indiana Sunday afternoon. The tornado watch has since been dropped for all of Illinois, but remained in effect for all of Northwest Indiana as of 3:11 p.

The NWS Fort Worth TX issued a severe thunderstorm warning at 3:40 p.m. on Sunday in effect until 4:45 p.m. for Tarrant County.

Severe weather is possible throughout southeast Michigan Sunday evening. Due to the heightened risk the NEXT Weather Team will be at our Alert Day levels, providing additional coverage on our livestream through the evening.

The National Weather Service released a tornado warning at 6:16 p.m. EDT on Sunday in effect until 6:45 p.m. EDT for Eaton, Ingham and Jackson counties.

On the north side of this strong storm system, wintry precipitation continues to plague parts of the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and New England. Winter alerts remain in effect for 9 million people, including in Green Bay, Wisconsin; Marquette, Michigan; Burlington, Vermont; and Portland, Maine.

"Several tornadoes will also occur with supercells. A few of these tornadoes could be strong." Accuweather meteorologists warned that more than a dozen tornadoes were possible Sunday afternoon and Sunday night,
