The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning travelers that "formidable" lake effect snow is likely to cause disruptions for many over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

The “arctic outbreak will arrive in the northern Rockies and northern Plains on Thanksgiving into Friday and advance farther south and east through much of the Plains and Midwest this weekend,” according to the National Weather Service. It will come with dangerous windchills, lake effect snow and severe thunderstorms.

Gusty winds continue through your Tuesday, with a partially clearing sky, after a few rain showers earlier. Wind gusts reach 30-40 mph with slowly falling temperatures through the day. No significant travel impacts for Wednesday with at least partial sunshine and dry weather.
