A 3.8-magnitude earthquake shook the Southern California area, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. The more than 6-mile deep quake hit about 4 miles north of Malibu at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, according to the USGS.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 struck Malibu Friday afternoon, and was likely felt as far away as Long Beach. Centered in the hills above Point Dume at 2:15 p.m., damage is unlikely given its diminutive size. It was initially recorded as a magnitude 3.5.

The epicenter was about 4.6 miles north of Point Dume, in the mountains above Malibu's city limits. It's the seventh earthquake so far this year to rumble in this area.
