According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Denver Broncos have waived running back Blake Watson with an injury settlement. Watson suffered a PCL strain during their preseason finale victory over the Saints and now will hit the waiver wire.

In June, Sean Payton told reporters the words that’d come to define the Broncos’ backfield for two months: “Don’t start counting.”

Cox was signed last spring after playing at Kentucky and Newton came from Toledo and Rowan from Utah State. Nelson was signed by the Broncos on July 31 when undrafted rookie outside linebacker Johnny Walker was put on the season-ending injured reserve list with an injury to his right ankle-foot.
