This Chicago Cubs legend, who made his peace with the franchise earlier this offseason, was in spring training in Arizona.

The Chicago Cubs have formalized their 2025 Spring Training schedule, which begins Thursday, Feb. 20, at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., against the Los Angeles Dodgers, followed by the Sloan Park opener Friday,

Outfielder Brett Bateman and right-handed pitchers Brandon Birdsell and Antonio Santos have returned to minor league camp. Bateman has one at-bat appearance in Spring Training. He has been solid in his two years playing in the Minor Leagues since being drafted in the eighth round by the Cubs in 2023.

One of the goals of the Chicago Cubs when entering the offseason was to upgrade their pitching staff. They were on the lookout for some help in the bullpen, which was overhauled in the middle of the 2024 campaign.

Training has treated the Chicago Cubs kindly so far based on the product on the field and the legends that have been around Mesa with the franchise.

In the opener, the Cubs put up 12 runs against the Los Angeles Dodgers. They followed that with seven runs in their second game against Los Angeles. Chicago then scored seven runs against the Chicago White Sox on Saturday and six runs versus the Texas Rangers on Sunday. In total, the Cubs have scored 32 runs in their four games played.

Entering MLB spring training, these three Chicago Cubs will be fighting for not only roster spots, but their job as well.
