Iran’s U.N. mission said it would be willing to discuss its nuclear program if talks were restricted to military concerns, after its supreme leader appeared to reject President Trump’s offer to start discussions.

Iran has indicated a potential willingness to engage in nuclear negotiations with the US, but only if discussions focus solely on concerns about the militarization of its nuclear program, according to Iran's UN mission.

Tehran has long maintained its program is for peaceful purposes, even as its officials increasingly threaten to pursue the bomb. Tensions are high with the U.S. over its sanctions and with Israel as a shaky ceasefire holds in its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
