White House national security adviser Mike Waltz said on Friday he expects Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to sign a minerals agreement with the United States as part of efforts to end the Ukraine war.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is "not ready" to sign a minerals deal with the United States, a source told AFP on Saturday, raising questions about Washington's demands as a rift between the two countries deepened.

Volodymyr Zelensky has caved to Donald Trump's demands as the Ukrainian President has agreed a deal with the US which grants them access to critical mineral deposits. The agreement was viewed as vital to appease the White House for a peace settlement between Kyiv and Moscow to bring Putin's three-year-long invasion to an end.
