Ms. Habba, the president’s former spokeswoman and personal lawyer, has been serving in an interim capacity. She had no prosecutorial experience when she was appointed.

Edan Alexander, the U.S.-Israeli dual citizen who was held hostage by Hamas, visited the White House Thursday for a meeting with President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania.

Alexander returned to his hometown of Tenafly, New Jersey about two weeks ago after being kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
