The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Cyclone Fengal, pronounced as Feinjal, will hit the Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram close to Puducherry with a wind speed of 70-80 km per hour, gusting to 90 kmph, this afternoon.

The cyclone is expected to bring severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, strong winds, and disruptions across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

The cyclone is likely to continue moving west-northwestward and cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, near Puducherry, as a cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 70-80 km/h, gusting to 90 km/h, during the afternoon of November 30.

At present, Cyclone Fengal is located over the southwest Bay of Bengal, moving west-northwestwards at a speed of 10 kmph. The storm’s coordinates are 12.3°N latitude and 80.7°E longitude, approximately 100 km east-northeast of Puducherry and 100 km southeast of Chennai.
