Stephen Colbert is not holding back. After the comedian announced that CBS has decided to end the “Late Show” franchise after more than 30 years in May 2026, all eyes were on his first broadcast since revealing the news.

Stephen Colbert returned for his first full program after last week’s announcement that CBS was canceling his “Late Show.”

“The gloves are off!” Colbert said in his monologue. “I can finally speak unvarnished truth to power and say what I really think about Donald Trump. Starting now.” Then, looking right at the camera, he said after a pause: “I don’t care for him.”
