Maharashtra 's Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Shukla has been reinstated after the assembly elections. Shukla, a 1988-batch IPS officer, was removed from her post on November 4 by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on a complaint by the Congress party. The state home department confirmed her return to the post on Monday evening.

Seen as close to Devendra Fadnavis, Shukla was sent on leave for the duration of the Assembly elections by the EC after Opposition complaints against her of “bias” towards the BJP.
