Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari have been backed to succeed by a former Scuderia F1 driver. Gerhard Berger says he would put his money on Ferrari winning at least one world championship title in F1 2025.

Formula 1 legend Lewis Hamilton has candidly spoken about his fresh team switch to Ferrari in the first in-depth interview since joining the Scuderia. The seven-time champion shocked the world of motorsport this time last year by announcing that he had decided to leave Mercedes after 12 iconic years with Toto Wolff's outfit.

Vasseur said Hamilton was the “perfect fit” for Ferrari right now, while Leclerc thought the Briton was joining at the ideal point as the team’s mentality is now stronger than ever, in part thanks to Vasseur’s leadership. No longer in a rebuild, the championship is a realistic goal for Ferrari.

Lewis Hamilton says Ferrari’s F1 car is “completely different” to the Mercedes and McLarens he has driven in the past. The seven-time world champion is gearing up for his first season with Ferrari after completing a blockbuster transfer from F1 rivals Mercedes.

Whatever benefits Lewis Hamilton will be able to bring to Ferrari, they will pale in comparison to Adrian Newey's Aston Martin impact.

Hamilton's last F1 drivers' championship came in 2020 and the Briton finished seventh with Mercedes last year.

Lewis Hamilton has told CNN Sport that his move to Ferrari is “the challenge that I really needed” and that “the number one goal is to win.” The 40-year-old is hoping his move to Maranello will reignite a bid at a record-breaking eighth drivers’ championship title.
