Kolkata: ISKCON Kolkata on Friday had expressed concern over freezing of bank accounts of 17 monks in Bangladesh including arrested monk Chinmoy Krishna Das. ISKCON Kolkata vice president Radharaman Das said that devotees and monks will be in more trouble with this development.

Bangladesh has frozen the bank accounts of 17 ISKCON associates for 30 days after Chinmoy Krishna Das was arrested on sedition charges. The High Court rejected a petition to ban ISKCON following a lawyer's death during clashes.

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) sent these directives to different banks and financial institutions on Thursday, suspending all types of transactions related to these accounts for a month.

Bangladesh's financial authorities have ordered banks to freeze the accounts of 17 individuals linked to ISKCON, including former spokesperson Chinmoy Krishna Das, for 30 days.
