The Indian government has termed the US indictment of industrialist Gautam Adani and others as a "legal matter involving private individuals and private entities and the US Department of Justice." In its first official comment since the charges were filed,

India's foreign ministry said on Friday that bribery allegations against billionaire Gautam Adani by U.S. authorities is a legal matter between private firms and the U.S. Department of Justice and that New Delhi is not involved in the case at this point.

The MEA spokesperson mentioned that the Indian government was not informed in advance about the indictment and is not part of the ’conversation’ at this point.
