The NWS Wakefield VA issued a report at 5:49 p.m. on Thursday for black ice until Friday at 10 a.m. The alert is for Western Currituck and Eastern Currituck as well as Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Pasquotank,

Re-freezing could also result in black ice and slick travel conditions. Significant ice accumulations were forecast in eastern North Carolina, the National Weather Service said.

The North Carolina mountains could get hit hard with ice this week as there’s a concern for just that on Tuesday and Wednesday. Significant ice accumulation is possible on those days. There could also be numerous downed trees and power outages as ice begins to accumulate in those areas along with heavy rain through the week.
