The Boston Red Sox have some financial flexibility after trading Rafael Devers. They may try and use that money to extend Alex Bregman.

On Wednesday, Bleacher Report's Zachary D. Rymer proposed a hypothetical trade in which the Mets would send designated hitter Starling Marte and right-handed pitching prospect Nolan McLean to Boston for Bregman, who has an opt-out this winter with two years, $80 million remaining on his contract.

MLB executives believe the Boston Red Sox could trade Alex Bregman if the two sides can't agree to a contract extension before the MLB trade deadline.
