A name that recently began to emerge in trade rumors, the Washington Commanders have traded former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Brian Robinson Jr. to the San Francisco 49ers, per a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter. In return, Washington will reportedly receive a 2026 sixth round pick from San Francisco.

Still, McCaffery has been one of the healthier running backs for San Francisco during training camp. The 49ers already have put Patrick Taylor Jr. on injured reserve, gone most of the preseason without Jordan James and have only recently had Isaac Guerendo return from a shoulder injury.
